GASLIGHTING TRAINING...!
Let's call it what it is - gaslighting of the highest order.
Imposter leaders are highly skilled emotional arsonists.
No joke.
Accountability does not exist in their world. To think they even understand or know the definition of accountability is nuts. They sure aren't going to take accountability for an issue and shut down abusive behavior when they are likely abusers themselves.
When you seek support from them as it relates to the person bullying you, they may tell you that you need to speak to the person bullying you and resolve it yourself.
Right - because that's a totally appropriate request (give me a break).
They may ignore you altogether - very likely and also inappropriate.
They may tell you that it is inappropriate to say anything bad about a person, it is inappropriate behavior, unbecoming of you as a professional and not seeing the best in others.
They probably tell you that you need to get along with the bully.
This is destructive in so many ways, it compounds the abuse and is devastating to Targets.
Employers, imposter leaders - please stop this behavior. Please listen to Targets and validate their experiences. Please observe behavior among your team and shut down inappropriate behavior, STAT. This is your responsibility as a leader.
Stand up for what is right, that is literally what you signed up for when you accepted the role as a leader.
